When the spring weather arrived this year I was so thrilled! It had been such a long, snowy winter this year and sometimes the Pacific Northwest can get a little dreary during the fall and winter months. I called this painting "Awakening" because the spring weather and new growth were so inspiring and I was glad to see more light! This is a watercolor on 140 lb. arches paper. Salt was used for texture in the background and the colors were splashed and splattered on for a lively, light filled painting. I masked out the tree trunks first before adding the paint.

Hi Sandra,
What a great blog you have - beautiful, sensitive paintings. I'll be back again and again to see what else you're up to.
You mentioned on my blog about a workshop. I just got home a couple of hours ago from our vacation inthe Pacific Northwest - awesome world where you live. I'd really enjoy doing a workshop there sometime if it can be arranged. It's an artist's paradise!

Thank you, Sandy. Yes the Pacific Northwest is definitely an artists paradise-I love it! It would be great if you could do a workshop here. I belong to the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society and I will check with the person who sets up the workshops. Several artists here would love to have some instruction on using YUPO. I'll keep you posted!
