Looks like I'm a little behind in my posting again! I have been busy this summer as usual but still finding time to paint. I am working on new paintings for the up coming Clark County Open Studio event which is November 8 and 9th this year. I have done several sunset paintings as well as many other outdoor scenes. I never run out of inspiration around here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
Here is an acrylic painting I just finished. It features Mt. Hood silhouetted in the distance and the first star of the evending (or maybe I should say planet?) I think Venus is the first "star" to appear.
Anyway, enjoy the painting and I hope you are all having a lovely summer!

Thank you all for visiting my blog! I have met some wonderful people through this site and many other artists who I wouldn't have met otherwise. The number of visitors is really increasing-- this is great! My painting for today is this beautiful sunset which I could not resist painting. Enjoy!

Mountains and Sea

I am currently working on painting abstract (or semi-abstract) landscapes in both watercolor and acrylic. Here is one done in acrylic on a gesso coated piece of watercolor paper. I applied the acrylic on the paper in a fashion similar to oil painting. I was quite happy with the results!

A Healing Place

This painting is a combination of acrylic and watercolor. I was going for a loose, abstract look and just began by laying down colors and letting them merge and blend as they chose. As I worked on the painting, the image took shape and reminded me of a wooded area near a pond where I always went as a teenager when I had the blues and needed a place to go to reflect and heal.
