I am getting ready for my show in September and October at Avalon Art Gallery in Battle Ground. Artists Ann Cavanaugh (fused glass) and Karen Stark (watercolor) will be featured also. I finished two paintings recently and will feature those and others in upcoming posts. The sunflowers that were part of the wedding are beautiful! They grew on their own even after we tilled our garden last fall! My daughter and her father walked down an aisle of sunflowers on both sides of them-a beautiful sight indeed!

face in the sky

I was working on a painting the other day and I was trying to find the perfect sky to complement the painting (it was for a piece commissioned by a dear friend of mine and I wanted to find just the perfect sky!) Anyway, I went through my files of photographs and was just amazed at the variety of sky photos I have taken over the years! The interesting thing is that many were taken of the same view but each one was very different. Sometimes the sky was quiet and thoughtful; other times it was violent and colorful with clouds churning in turmoil. Some of the pictures showed a soft hazy sky with a few wispy clouds and others were of colorful sunsets at various stages with no two pictures the same. Then I found this picture I had taken a long time ago when I lived in Ellensburg, Washington of clouds that looked like a face in the sky (the white speck is a flaw on the photo). It was quite amazing and I have never seen another like it (so far).
