My Irises

I talked about painting on Yupo paper in an earlier post. Here is another watercolor done on Yupo paper. I love the way the colors float on top of the paper- they stay so much brighter! I am thinking of posting some painting demos and "paintings in process" on this blog in the near future, so stay tuned!

Siesta

I did this painting of some cows in a field just up the road from my house. They looked so content and peaceful I just had to paint this scene. Cows are an interesting subject to paint, especially if the lighting is just right. They are a popular subject and I have sold many paintings of cows, to my surprise.

Heaven and earth

I like to use pastel over watercolor sometimes to create a different effect. It is really effective to use light pastel colors over darker watercolors (after the watercolor has dried). The bright colors over the dark really glow! In this painting I loved the way the sky and ground seem to meet and blend into one.
